The width of the sling will fit over the outside of your shoulder. The seam will line up underneath your breast. # Open the sling to create the pouch. This is where baby lays. Sling Positions Vicki with Sarah in the Cradle position. Cradle Position Cradle Position (Newborn-4 months) - Once you have the sling on, open the pouch.Hold baby with the opposite arm that is carrying the sling. Put baby, bum first into the sling with baby's head laying next to your breast. You might need to adjust baby slightly (jostle up and down). Rachel with Sara in the Kangaroo position. Kangaroo Position Kangaroo Position (2 months-8 months) Once you have the sling on, open the pouch.Hold baby with legs crossed on your chest. Baby's back will be touching your chest. Slide baby, bum first into the pouch. Make sure baby's legs are still crossed and not twisted. This is a better position for babies who are a bit stronger, holding their head. Vicki with Kiri in the Hip Carry position. Hip Carry Position Hip Carry (8 months-35 lbs) Once you have the sling on, open the pouch.Turn the pouch until the seam is even with your hip. Hold baby facing your shoulder, cross baby's legs. Make sure baby is high on your shoulder. Slide baby into sling, adjust the sling to be under baby's arms. You can tuck baby's arms into sling. Baby should sit on your hip with no support. Back Carry12 months-toddlerThis is a great position for older babies/toddlers. Once you have baby in the hip position, lift your arm and slide baby around your hip to your back. Baby's legs will wrap around your waist/hip. Make sure sling is high on baby's back.
